Wildfires are common in the west. Wildfires are mostly caused by humans by cigarettes, campfires that are uncontrollable, matches, fireworks if they are not in the right position, lightning, and volcanoes. Wildfires need three things: first fuel like trees or dead grass, secondly, it needs a heat source like the sun and thirdly oxygen. This is called the fire triangle. There are three types of wildfires: forest, brush, and peatland, which is grass. Wind helps spread wildfires. Dry places like California have many wildfires. Some ways to prevent wildfires are to water your leaves so they don’t dray out and clean out your leaves. Wildfires can also help the environment by taking nutrients from dead plants and turning them to ash for the soil for new plants, giving sunlight to plants, and also helping trees make little plants by dropping them at the right time.
