The COVID 19 pandemic has triggered different and new ways of education. All around the world schools were conducting school online through different learning platforms. Many people have been looking into how to create a school environment for students to continue their education.

Pros:

Resources:

Online education provides teachers an efficient way to teach lessons. Since everyone is on a device teachers have the ability to use many tools in their teaching plan such as videos, PDF files, podcasts etc. Having more resources allows teachers to expand their lessons beyond just textbooks.

Flexibility:

An advantage is that online classes can be taken at any location as long as it has accessibility to the internet. Also, the meetings often get recorded and shared for future reference. This results in more flexibility for the students.

Affordability:

Online education is generally much more affordable since the cost of student transportation and student meals is cut down to result in a cheaper education.

Student Attendance:

Since students can take class from anywhere, lesser students have been missing classes.

Suits a Variety of Students:

Cons:

Inability to Focus on Screens:

Some students really have a hard time focusing on screens for an extended period of time. With online learning, there’s a higher chance of students getting distracted by different websites or social media so it’s important that lessons are interactive and engaging to not lose the students attention.

Technology Issues:

Even though the internet and computers have grown over the past couple of years, there’s still numerous issues of speed. Whether the internet is glitchy, or there’s a technical problem it definitely interferes with students’ continuity of learning.

 Limited Social Interaction:

Even though online school has its benefits, there’s no denying that there is much less socializing and communication with you peers or teachers. Having minimal physical interaction can make students feel lonely or isolated.

Teacher Training:

Online learning requires teachers to have a basic understanding of technology. Oftentimes, teachers don’t know how to use online material to conduct a class.

Screen Time:

Many parents are concerned about their kids’ excessive amount of screen time since it can ruin your posture and your eyes. This is one of the biggest concerns and largest disadvantage.
