Kid of the Year is Gitanjali Rao

by Anish Sikka

The kid of the year goes to Gitanjali Rao who lives in Colorado, U.S.A. She solves problems in the world and here is one of them. She is making a device that detects lead in water. How it works is that you download an app on your phone and you put the device, that detects the lead, in the water. If the water is completely safe, the app will show the color green. If the water has some lead, then on the app it will show the color yellow, and if the water is not safe at all, the app will show red. Her mantra is, “If I can do it, anybody can do it.”

More about her device is that it costs 300 rupees which is around $4.50 and she is trying to reduce the money to 100 rupees which are around $1.67. She doesn’t care about the money, she cares about the help it will do. She sends out a message, in the videos about her, that she wants everybody to help. I hope we can be like Gitanjali Rao, who is only 15 years old, so we can help fix problems in this world. In conclusion, we should all try to be like the kid of the year, who is Gitanjali Rao and help fix problems in the world.
